Things to consider when choosing a car rental?
Here are the 10 things to consider when choosing a rental car company:
Compare prices –
The difference in daily rates will vary according to length of hire, day of the week and seasonality and the package you choose.
New Cars =
Expensive – Companies offering brand new cars generally charge a premium price. Depending on your needs a vehicle that is not new will do the same job sometimes for half the price.
Size Matters –
Check if the vehicle you are hiring will accommodate your needs and passengers. Not good if you can’t fit all your luggage.
Insurance is always safe and a good idea –
Most companies include standard insurance on their regular rates with excess going from 500/- to 5000/- . For an extra fee you can reduce that excess to a fraction of that price tag.
How far are you going? –
Some companies offer two different rates when hiring, one with unlimited kms meaning you can travel freely without worrying about the extra cost and the other option you will need to pay for the kms you travel. Normally when paying for the extra kms the daily rates will be much cheaper than the unlimited option.
Additional drivers –
Some rental car companies may or may not charge for additional drivers. See If it is necessary for you to have a driver Or you may consider traveling on your own and exploring the places in Goa.
Filling the tank –
Normally rental car companies will give you the vehicle with a full tank Petrol/Diesel and you are expected to return the vehicle with full tank. In case you don’t bring it full some car rental companies may charge you an administration fee and also for the price of fuel.
Extra bits –
Most car rental companies offer for an extra fee, gsp units, child seats, booster seat, roof racks, Jungle safari etc… Some car rental companies may offer a bundle deal with discounted price for several extra items.
Roadside Assistance –
Some companies offer 24 hrs roadside assistance provided by the Goan Car Rental Network. Normally there is no extra charge for call out when in case of mechanical faults. In situations like flat battery or flat tyres a small fee may be applied.
Smoking not allowed –
Most car rental companies do not allow smoking in the car. Car rental agencies will charge you a cleaning fee in case you do so.
